Academy Awards 2010 Best Gowns

I tend to favor strapless gowns that flow nicely from a well-fitted bust and bodice. This look appeared on this year's read carpet in so many variations that none of gowns was unique. The females dressed like movie stars this year, and fashionable women paraded down the red carpet, put together from head to toe.

I begin with Cameron Diaz who finally discarded her disheveled look and did something wonderful with her blonde hair that looked both soft and glamorous. Cameron wears this lovely Oscar de la Renta gown below. Her earrings and Veronica Lake hair complement her beaded gown perfectly.

Everyone seems to love the exquisite Mariska Hargitay, and I am part of the majority. Did I miss something? Is Mariska a movie star? If not, then why wasn't the "television actress" Farrah Fawcett featured in the memoriam of stars who died within this last year? That omission was the worst faux pas among faux pas.

Back to Mariska who belongs on these pages regardless. They say that black does not photograph well on the red carpet, but this dress looks stunning. Her jewelry is perfect.

I don't think that beautiful Rachel McAdams could have possibly done better in her flowing gown of pastel flowers and criss-crossed bodice. Earrings that dangle are rarely warn correctly with a busy neckline or too much hair. Rachel's strapless gown and pulled-back hair look just right.

Wow. Look at Helen Mirren in this Badgley Mischka gown. What a good-looking woman with one of the best bodies in Hollywood. She knows how to show off her figure without showing too much skin. She dresses appropriately for her age, but she still appears approachable and sensual.

These four women above make dressing for the Oscars look easy. This is what class looks like, Mariah. I only pick on her because she leaves nothing to the imagination; we have seen 99 percent of her skin and we know what she looks like. Can you imagine how beautiful Mariah would look wearing a high neck?

My next blog will feature one last unique group of women and the gowns they wore to the 2010 Oscars.
